The story begins with music -- classical and electronic - pioneering new approaches to music production - both in the studio and in live performance.   We have composed and produced film and video scores, dance scores, TV and radio commercials, and dozens of concert pieces - everything from chamber music to full symphonic works.

Most of the music is available for live performance.  Works are often available in multiple versions - both instrumental and with media. In many instances, scores are available for download.  Click on the individual icons for more info.

Electric Diamond

ELECTRIC DIAMOND is one of the longest-lived electronic performance ensembles - 35 years plus and going strong. The ensemble first performed in 1979 playing concerts at Carnegie Recital Hall, Symphony Space, the Guggenheim Museum and other venues of the New York 1970s new music scene.  ELECTRIC DIAMOND's performances are truly "live", without the use of any computer sequencing or multi tracking techniques. The results are performances of immediacy, power, and authentic feeling.

Being Alice

BEING ALICE Ver. 2.1 purports to be the recently discovered musical manuscript that was meant to accompany the adventures of Alice in Wonderland. It is a theme and variations arranged for chamber orchestra with optional narration and multimedia. The work can also be thought of as a "young person's guide to musical composition," as each variation explores different techniques (inversion, retrograde, mirror, augmentation, canon, etc.).

KONZERTO is a four movement concerto for solo violin and electronic orchestra. Karen Bentley Pollick is the violinist.

M x KRONOS was commissioned by the KRONOS String Quartet. This recording was made in 1980 at Carnegie Recital Hall. In this performance, the players are Dave Harrington and John Sherba on violins, Hank Dutt on viola, and Joan Jeanrenaud on cello.

Macha is an orchestral work for Baritone and Orchestra. John Davidson is the baritone. Harold Aks conducts the Sarah Lawrence Orchestra in 1977.

Impossibe Music

Impossible Music  Remember DOS... Three etudes using early DOS-based sequencer and notation software controlling a Proteus, an early multi-timbrel sampler.  1. Based on a simple 4 bar ground bass. 2. Explores 10. (10/4 with 10/8). 3. Explores 13. (13/4 with 13/8).

Theme and Variations

Theme and Variations (Circa 1982) was produced on a TEAC 8-track tape recorder. Instruments include Lyricon Wind Driver controlling either a classic Oberheim 1 and ARP 2500 synthesizer. A simple KORG polyphonic keyboard is used on occasion.

Guinevere is 8 minute selection from an epic, 90 minute, dark and brooding music meditation on Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot, Merlin, Morgan Le Fey, Maleagant and the many other characters of the Arthurian Romances. CIrca 1983.

This section features the March to Battle, The Conflict between the Forces of Good and Evil) and the Lament of the Dead. (All very Star Warish – though set in the early Middle Ages). A conglomeration of medieval music, electric rock and classical music. All done with my Teac 8 track tape recorder, Lyricon, Arp 2600, Oberheim, and Crumar synths, presynths and sequencers. All analog.

One day I may forge through the other 70 minutes to find out what is salvageable.
