Would
to God may your horizon broaden every day! The people who bind themselves
to systems are those who are unable to encompass the whole truth and try
to catch it by the tail; a system is like the tail of truth, but truth
is like a lizard; it leaves its tail in your fingers and runs away knowing
full well that it will grow a new one in a twinkling.

There
are those who speak of me as a great Master or a Teacher. To them I say
"pish", for nothing could be further from the Truth. I am simply
what I am. Others may bethink me as they wish. But if someone were to
ask me what is the "secret", I might tell them this story of
Mr. Bushnika, an elderly gentleman I once knew, many, many years ago --
when I was but a boy. He was a dapper fellow, who wore white suits and
sported a cane, and who would sit on the park bench and tell his stories
of another time and place. And I would love to listen, for he would make
me and all my friends laugh, and his eyes would then sparkle with delight.
Once as he was getting on in years and I was just old enough to ask such
things, I inquired of him, "What is your secret, you seem so happy,
so at peace and content." And this is what he said to me. |
